Even a single family computer actually requires a little bit of networking knowledge to use the internet. While it is as simple as connect a PC to your cable modem or DSL this does not represent a best practice. One of the simplest ways to protect your computer is an internet router. That is until you realize most are not setup by default to fully protect you.
